Built to Last: Why Quality Manufacturing is Our First Lubricant

A lubrication system is only as good as its worst fitting. The pump gets the attention, but failures in the field are far more often a cracked adaptor, a chafed line or a divider block machined a fraction out of tolerance. Quality at that level is not a marketing claim — it is the difference between a system that runs for a decade and one that leaks.
Manufacturing under ISO 9001:2015
Ultra-Flow manufactures under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. In practice that means process control and traceability: the same component made this year to the same specification as last year, with the documentation to prove it.
For a maintenance manager the benefit is unglamorous but real — a spare ordered three years after commissioning fits and behaves exactly like the part it replaces.
Why we machine our own
Precision CNC machining sits alongside the lubrication division rather than in a separate business. That matters for divider valves in particular, where piston-to-bore clearance determines whether metering is accurate and repeatable. Progressive dividers are mechanically interlocked by design: each piston must complete its stroke before the next can move. That interlock only behaves correctly if the machining is right.
Making them ourselves means tolerance is controlled in-house, and a custom outlet configuration is an engineering decision rather than an import lead time.
Materials chosen for the environment
Southern African conditions are hard on equipment. Coastal and marine installations face constant salt exposure; quarry and cement plant faces abrasive dust; food and beverage lines face washdown.
So specification follows environment rather than habit: stainless Push-Lok fittings with integrated swivel nuts for corrosive duty, IP-rated controller enclosures where washdown or weather is a factor, and protective sleeving on chassis and structural runs where lines cross a wear point.
Designed locally, supported locally
Our controller line — A2, A2+, Autolube, G1, G2, the ADS-3 data shuttle and the Roamer GSM module — is designed and assembled at Montague Gardens in Cape Town. Local manufacture is not sentiment. It means a controller fault is diagnosed by the people who built it, spares are on a shelf in Cape Town rather than in a container, and a customer needing a non-standard configuration talks to an engineer rather than a distributor.
The standard we hold
Ultra-Flow has installed centralised lubrication systems since 1989, drawing on Vogel, SKF and Lincoln system experience across marine, transport, industrial and earthmoving applications. Equipment that has to survive that range does not get there by being cheap. It gets there by being made properly.
